Maintenance Guide
Maximize the natural beauty of your hardwood floor by following below care guidelines.

HARDWOOD MAINTENANCE TIPS
You’ve finally got the perfect floor—now let’s make sure it stays that way. As life changes, so do the everyday messes that come with it. The good news? Keeping your floor in top shape is easy with a straightforward care routine.

Environment Control
Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. In humid conditions, it absorbs moisture and can swell; in dry conditions, it loses moisture and may shrink. These environmental shifts can affect the performance and appearance of your floors. Excess moisture may lead to cupping—where the edges of a board rise above the center. Conversely, moisture loss can cause gapping or splitting between or across boards. These seasonal changes are normal and often temporary.
To minimize movement and maintain warranty coverage, keep indoor conditions between 65°F–85°F and 35%–55% relative humidity year-round. During dry months, consider using a humidifier to prevent excessive shrinkage and gaps. In the humid months, air conditioning or a dehumidifier can help control swelling.

Protecting the Floor
A few simple steps can go a long way in protecting your floors:
-
Add felt pads to the bottom of furniture legs to prevent scratches.
-
Avoid walking on your floors with sports cleats or high heels, which can dent the surface.
-
Use mats or area rugs in high-traffic spots to reduce wear and tear. Choose cloth-backed rugs or vinyl mesh rug pads instead of rubber-backed ones, which can trap moisture and damage the finish.
-
Don’t forget to rearrange rugs and mats every so often to prevent uneven fading and wear.
Cleaning Tips
-
Wipe up spills immediately using a clean, dry cloth. Follow with a slightly damp cloth and a hardwood floor cleaner to remove any residue.
-
Always vacuum or dust before using any cleaning product. Apply the product to a terry cloth cleaning pad and clean along the wood grain.
-
Use only floor care products designed specifically for hardwood flooring.
-
Avoid wet mops, string mops, sponge mops, and steam mops, which can oversaturate and damage the floor.
Pets & Kids
Luxura floors are built to endure the lively pace of households with pets and children.
-
Place breathable mats at entryways to reduce dirt and grit tracked indoors.
-
Trim your pets’ nails regularly to reduce surface scratches. Minor scratches typically affect only the finish and can be easily repaired.
-
For families with children, regular sweeping, dusting, or vacuuming with a hard floor setting helps maintain a clean surface. Promptly wipe spills with a dry or lightly damp cloth, and avoid wet or steam mops to protect the finish and wood.
Repairing
Sometimes, life gets the best of your floors—and that’s okay. If things start to look a little dull, only use cleaning and polish products recommended by your installer or floor manufacturer. Using the wrong product could damage the finish or even the wood. For small scratches or scuffs, touch-up markers, stain pens, or furniture repair kits can work wonders.
For deeper damage or wear, it’s best to call in a professional to restore your floor to its original beauty.
With just a little routine care and attention, your Luxura Floors will continue to bring warmth, beauty, and durability to your home for years to come.
